FIRST AID AT WORK INFORMATION
The Health & Safety (First Aid ) Regulations 1981 require you as an employer to provide adequate and appropriate first aid equipment, facilities and people so your employees can be given immediate help if they are injured or taken ill at work.
Accidents and illness can happen at any time and first aid can save lives and prevent minor injuries from becoming major ones.
Therefore irrespective of the size of your business or organisation you may decide that part of your First Aid plan is to have trained member(s) of staff within your employee community.
MI Team Training are able to offer initial, refresher and re-qualification training to ensure that your designated First Aid team are always ready to deal with any situation they are trained for.
We are able to provide complete First Aid training solutions and as part of our free management service we will let you know when your employees are due an annual refresher or approaching their 3 year expiry dates. This will ensure that they remain both up to date with the latest advice and certified as current.
Whilst all can enjoy the benefits of learning First Aid techniques the demands of being a First Aider in the Workplace are both physically and mentally demanding. Therefore employees to be considered should be be able to fulfil the following criteria:-
Physically able to provide colleagues with first aid, e.g. able to kneel on the floor and administer cardio pulmonary resuscitation, in line with the Health & Safety Executive’s (HSE) Approved Code of Practice.
Free from any condition that will affect their participation in the Course and their capability to carry out the duties of a first aider,
Reliable, with the necessary disposition and communication skills,
Able to cope with stressful and physically demanding emergency procedures,
Easily reachable in the event of an emergency at work.
16 years old or above.
*It is the responsibility of the customer to ensure suitable persons are selected to train to become First Aiders.
